It's sparkfun geiger counter and a cheap led matrix from aliexpres (8x8 led matrix + max7219 driver).
The best part is the software of course :-) What it does is in 1 minute (so ~970ms per led) either lighten up or turn off a led depending on if in that 970ms an beta/gamma particle was detected by the geiger counter.
