The board was a bit small for this project, but all fits. The whole thing uses the magic of the 4093 (a quad, dual input, Schmitt-trigger NAND port IC). It feeds the feelers (green pins) with a low current AC, then checks whether or not the voltage is high enough to trigger the next gate. Then a diode detector that converts the pulses to a nice DC level. This is available on the yellow pin for further processing.
